Resurrection Art
Julia Schloss grew up in a home with survivors of the Great Depression and was taught at a very early age the value of recycling everything
She began transforming cast offs and household refuse into art for sale and gifting when she was four years old. This art form has been her staple through out her life. She has no formal educational training, other than junior high and high school art.
In 1998 Resurrection Art was developed to bring awareness to our Global catastrophe: our trash is killing our planet. Taking responsibility is the only aswer. Julia teaches several Salvage Art classes for kids and adults as well as Salvaging 4 $'s "Making Cash From Trash". The book is in the works.
Julia's creations are never the same. Always original because trash doesn't repeat itself. The cost of Julia's art works are very reasonable because the materials are free. She wishes to pass that on to you . She wants you to collect her art creating a natural flow of salvation of our species and planet.

CooLWaTeRs 2: Saturday, August 21, 2010 _ 1727 on The Levee
CooLWaTerS comes at a time in Dallas when the heat is stifling, and we are at our wits end with August and Summer in general. It is our goal to shower you with refrigerated air, chilly willy performances, and flowing Oceanic art for all the senses.
Last year we had beautiful mermaids everywhere in every medium. Live dancing mermaids to metal sculpture mermaids. This year we invite you to step beyond the maids and off the gang plank into the seas of controversy! Bring us your artistic tribute to our Mother, The Sea.
Share with us SeaHorses, anenomes, flora, fauna, real scapes and make believe. And of course ancient ships of trade, swimming with dolphins and blue fin tuna. Show us the iridescence that is the wave coming to shore. Swarvy Pirates and Slinky Sirens we adORe!
Mixed media, ink on paper, collage, assemblage, water colors and oils, photography, antique sailing songs and modern poetical lore.
You name it. If it pertains to the sea, we want to see it! Hear it! Feel it and more!
Submissions accepted by new artists and old, self taught and hyper educated. Local and foreign.
Upon acceptance into the show you will be notified by myself or Desmene Statum. You will receive your standard gallery contract and other pertinent info regarding installation day and time, and show contents.
Thank you So much, we cannot WAit to see what you come up with!

Two 11x13 recycled canvasses. I painted right over the art that was begun on these. layers and layers of texture, and color. For a while I just cleaned my brush on them during other projects. Then one dayI was searching for inspiration in my toy box and I found Gumby and Pokey. "You've been with me a long time." I said. Then, in unison thEy said to me, "Love, No Matter What"..."Promise, Cross Your Heart". They laughed their funny little Gumby n Pokey laffs and it all came together. I found them in a dumpster outside a thrift store in separate bags. Separate But Together. The Story of My Life. Yours too? You can see Gumby n Pokey in Person at The Green Room _1727
